BOSTON, July 1 – The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court appointed Jacqueline E. Farrow of Indian Orchard to a five-year term on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), the largest funding source for civil legal aid in the Commonwealth.
Farrow also serves as a liaison to the Client Council, which is comprised of more than 100 client board members from legal aid organizations across the Commonwealth. She has been a client member of the Western Massachusetts Legal Services Board of Directors for the past 18 months.
She is filling the seat vacated by longtime client Board member Ethel “Peggy” Santos, a community activist from Dorchester.
Farrow is employed by the Stavros Center for Independent Living, where she serves on the Advocacy Committee. She also works with the Massachusetts Coalition for Homelessness to help homeless shelters with disability accessibility awareness.
Also, Maria Matos of Brookline, who has served as a client Board member since 2005, was reappointed to a five-year term. MLAC has an 11-member Board, three of whom represent the client community.
